INTERVIEW

Interview Scene Description

The interview, entitled "Aaron Calhoun, Singer Songwriter" takes place at Aaron's house in Austin, Texas. The opening scene superimposes images of an acoustic guitar being strummed over a weathered wooden fence, then resolves to Aaron, dressed in denim jacket, jeans and black boots, standing outside his house on a bright and warm Texas winter day.

Aaron's house is a small, modern two story, two room open air block style structure. The front wall consists entirely of glass, while the sides are constructed of white cinderblocks. Furniture is minimal, and upon entering, one's focus lands immediately on the keyboard in the center of the room and the piano against a side wall. Many acoustic guitars are set against the other walls and in corners.

After talking about his college experience, there are some shots of Aaron listening to headphones and playing his guitar, as a flamenco style guitar plays in the background. Aaron then leads the interviewer into his house and upstairs to his room.

The second portion of the interview is focused close on Aaron's face in his upstairs, loft style room, against a crisp background of woodgrained walls and ceiling. As he sits in front of his Imac, Aaron speaks about using the internet to promote his music, and talks a little about how he spends his free time.

The scene then moves downstairs for the third part of the interview, which centers around the piano. Aaron answers questions about his love of music while sitting with his back to a dark maroon 1800's standup piano against the white cinderblock wall of his house. Modern artwork consisting of faded black, blue and off-white horizontal stripes hangs above the piano.

The scene shifts slightly to Aaron now playing the piano, as he performs the opening bars of his song "They won't go when I go" for the interviewer.

The scene then shifts back to Aaron answering questions about what it is like to see a live Aaron Calhoun show as the song from earlier continues in the background. When he is finished, the background piano music swells up again, and we see a close up shot of Aaron's fingers delicately playing the simple but melancholy song "They won't go when I go".
