INTERVIEW

Interview Text Transcript

Interviewer:
Did you go to college?

Aaron:
I didn't, well I went to college for one semester
and I was utterly bored out of my mind.
It just was not what I was looking for.
And around that same time,
I had purchased my first guitar.
and in the Rock and Roll cliche,
I just really fell in love with music.

[ flamenco style guitar. ]

Aaron:
My goal is just to get my music out there.

Interviewer:
Are you looking to the internet to help you
get your music out there?

Aaron:
Definitely. Yeah, everybody's logging on to
the internet,
and I think it's a great way for people
to sample the music.

[ music swells, voice inaudible. ]

Interviewer:
How do you spend your free time?

Aaron:
Free time? Umm.. I'll go to the park,
hang out with my dog.. I read a lot.
I listen to music quite a bit..
and really, I just play.

[ electric guitar ]

Interviewer:
Who introduced you to music?

Aaron:
Umm.. Life introduced me to music.
Life circumstances.
I think, moving around a lot,
and always being the new kid,
Umm, I needed an outlet.
My mom had a pretty large record collection.
From early on, as early as I can
remember I always loved music.
I'm a tremendous music fan
and have a large music collection.
I've always found it inspirational,
I can remember
locking myself up in
my room for four hours and just
listening to music
and that was it.
That's all I've ever needed.

Interviewer:
Which song is that?

Aaron:
They Won't Go when I Go.

[ singing. ]
No more lying friends
wanting tragic ends

[ music fades. ]

Interviewer:
What does a live Aaron Calhoun show
usually consist of?

Aaron:
A lot of bizarre things.
sometimes weird sunglasses,
strange political messages,
All sorts of Aaron Calhoun subterfuge
The album, "Smoke and Ash"
is very melancholy,
the live show is not,
at least with the band.
If I'm doing an acoustic show, it's mellow,
but with the band it's a lot more upbeat,
and at times humourous,
and at times really rocking.

[ piano music swells. ]

[ music fades out. ]
